GOOD MORNING DIEGO GARCIA!
A Journey of Discovery

Order Your Copy Here

About The Book
Do you believe that your human potential is greater than your day-to-day state of being?

Do you sometimes experience “weirdness” or “extraordinary moments” that seem to be glimpses into an alternative reality?

Good Morning Diego Garcia is a psychological and psychic exploration forged in the chaos of horrendous storms in the Indian Ocean during monsoon season. Following the loss of a child, war in Cyprus, and with growing suspicions that her husband has a secret life, Susan confronts the elements, and evidence that nothing is as it seems.

You’re young, living comfortably in southern California. You’re financially secure, though you don’t know why or how. Your husband simply ignores you when you ask too many questions. He’s hoping for another job overseas, doing something. You’re not sure what, but you suspect it’s not what he says.

You marriage is shaky. You survived a war in Cyprus together, and lost everything. Now you’re basically biding time.

A letter arrives from friends you knew in Cyprus. They’re sailing a new yacht from Taiwan to Europe for a Swedish millionaire. You’re invited to join them in Sri Lanka, as crew. Neither of you knows boats, but you’ll learn — it will be the trip of a lifetime, cruising the Indian Ocean in a pleasure yacht!

And, it turns out, in monsoon season. With no charts. And an emotionally unstable crew mate. What could possibly go wrong?

SPOILER: everything.

Excerpt From The Book
I glanced at Charles. He was sleeping.
My eyes closed and I returned to remembering the first big travel adventure.
From JFK Airport we flew to London, and boarded another flight to Tel Aviv. A driver, holding a sign with our family name on it, greeted us at the Lod Airport in Tel Aviv, and showed us to a sherut (a shared taxi) which took us (along with other new emigrants) from Tel Aviv, through the Negev desert, to the village of Arad, where we studied Hebrew.
“Amazing adventure,” I said.
Charles patted my knee. “Were you dreaming?”
“Remembering; same thing,” I said, smiling. “And now we’re up and away again; seven years later. Another adventure. It’s exciting”
“Chicken Marsala or Beef Stroganoff?” the hostess asked.
I put my seat forward in an upright position and lowered the food tray.
“Chicken for me, please,” I answered. “And Chardonnay.”
Charles chose the Beef Stroganoff and red wine.
“You look like Dr Ben Casey,” the airline hostess told Charles. “I love his show.”
“So, I’m told often,” Charles said smiling. “In fact, I’ve never seen the show.”
“You haven’t?” she asked. “It’s a great medical drama. A neurosurgeon at County General Hospital. Anyway, enjoy your meal.” She moved on down the aisle.
I uncovered a steaming dish of chicken smothered in mushrooms with pasta. “It’s true,” I told Charles. “You do look like Dr Casey.” I took a bite. “This is delicious. I hope the food is as good on Air India.”
“Maybe better,” Charles said.
“Charles?” I asked, touching his arm.
“Yes?”
“What will you do, when we return to California?”
“What do you mean?”
“Workwise? If your company doesn’t have a new assignment for you?”
“I’m sure they will by then.”
“And if not?”
“Something will turn up. Why do you ask?”
“We’ve been in limbo a long time. When we lived in Virginia Beach, The Little Theatre there advertised a play by Samuel Beckett.”
“And?” he asked, giving me a strange look.
“I wanted to see it, but arrived too late one evening to get in.”
“What was it about?”
“Two people waiting for someone named Godot—wanting someone else to move them forward; prove their existence.”
“Sounds ridiculous.” Charles grimaced.
“Of course Godot never shows.”
“Why on earth would you want to see that? Sounds ridiculous.”
“It reminded me of our situation. Waiting on your firm to tell us where to go next. Like we have no free will. “
Charles didn’t answer. He finished his lunch and went back to reading.
I went back to remembering.
Following the upheaval of the Cyprus War in July 1974, we were homeless and confused about where we’d live. After our evacuation to England, Charles awaited news daily from his employer, a Swiss firm, on where they planned to send him. He had worked for them for years, both in Europe and in the Middle East, and they hoped to place him somewhere. So we waited, and waited some more. I read lots of books, took long walks in the English countryside, and wished for a place to call home.
After weeks of waiting, Charles received a telephone call one day telling us to book flights to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where Charles would work out of the company office near Langley.
Upon our arrival, we found a beautiful, fully furnished home for rent on the 10th hole of the golf course, near the beach; bicycles included.
I stared out the plane window and watched billowing clouds float past. The flight attendant stopped to ask if we’d like more coffee or tea.
“Coffee please,” I replied.
“Cream, sugar?” she asked.
“No thanks. Black please,” I answered. “Smells fresh.”
Charles said no thanks and continued reading.
She smiled and moved on.
I took a sip of coffee.
“Since when do you drink black coffee?” Charles asked.
“Since Virginia Beach and visiting the Edgar Cayce Library.” I answered.
“The Cayce Library?” he questioned.
“Yes, while you were busy visiting military bases, I spent my days riding the bike along the boardwalk to the public library; researching the Cyprus War. One afternoon, by accident … ” I hesitated. “There are no accidents,” I added.
Charles nodded.
“I rode past the Edgar Cayce Foundation Library. People laden with boxes were busy moving books. A volunteer worker explained hundreds of books were being moved from the old Cayce Hospital Library to their new home. She invited me to go on in, have a look around, and make myself comfortable.”
“And you did,” Charles said.
“Yes. Entering the library, I felt as if I had discovered a secret chamber of knowledge; a vault filled with mysterious truths. My head tingled with excitement, so I knew I was in the right place.”
“What does this have to do with black coffee?” Charles asked.
I told Charles all about Edgar Cayce, “The Sleeping Prophet” and how he had the ability to put himself into a relaxed sleep state and connect his mind with all information in time and space. From this state he could respond to any question asked: from practical to trivial, to secrets of the universe. His psychic insights became know as “readings” and were recorded by a stenographer. People from all over the world sent letters requesting information on someone or something. All Cayce needed to know was the name of the person requesting the information and their location before he went into a trance and collected information.
I thought Charles would go back to reading his book, instead he seemed to be listening to me.
“The library was divided into several sections,” I continued. “I found myself drawn to one about discovering your mission in life and another section with books and articles about exploring ancient mysteries. Although I had always felt there was more to life than this life, the Cayce Library was my introduction to the idea of the existence of souls, and how they live on and on after physical death. I felt certain I had experienced past lives … and been lucky in all of them.”
“You were lucky in Cyprus,” Charles said. “We were lucky to get out alive.”
I nodded and continued. “I was soon lost in a sea of information on Edgar Cayce and his thousands of readings.”
“What does this have to do with black coffee?” Charles asked.
“Oh,” I answered. “Cayce talked about diet and the importance of balancing alkaline-producing foods with acid-producing foods and eating locally grown, seasonal foods. And he gave a list of things to avoid like not eating large quantities of meat or cheese with starchy foods.”
“Such as?” Charles questioned.
“Enchiladas, for example.”
Charles laughed.
“Milk, cereal, coffee with milk or cream,” I added, sipping my black coffee.
“To each his own,” Charles said. “No one can convince me Mexican food isn’t healthy.”
“I love it too. I stopped eating cereal after the discovery though.”
Charles opened his book and continued reading.
I removed my travel journal from the seat back pocket in front of me and scribbled images of the jagged clouds and noted some random thoughts about the uncertainty of being in limbo.
Uncertain? Unclear. Unsettled. Unknown.

About The Author
Born in Los Angeles California, Susan Joyce spent most of her childhood in Tucson, Arizona and returned to LA as a young working woman. Inspired as a child by postcards from her globe-trotting great aunt, Susan left the United States at age 20 to see the world.

She planned on being gone for a year, but ended up living her 20s and 30s in Europe and the Middle East. As a Jill of all trades, she worked as a secretary, freelance writer, taught computer classes, wrote songs, and became an accomplished artist while writing her first children's book, "Peel, the Extraordinary Elephant."

An award winning author and editor of children's books, Susan's first adult book in her memoir series, "The Lullaby Illusion--A Journey of Awakening" is a travelogue of the politics of Europe, the United States, and Israel during a twelve year 'roller-coaster' period of her life and an adventure of survival through friends and sheer determination.

The Lullaby Illusion was awarded
* Readers' Favorite 5-Stars and the 2014 GOLD Medal Winner, Non-Fiction--Travel in the 2014 Readers' Favorite International Book Awards.

Her second memoir, about transitting the Indian Ocean in monsoon season, is entitled "Good Morning Diego Garcia" and is available for order now!

"Another winner, without doubt."
Reviewed by John Searancke on February 7, 2016
I do like a well thought out book title – one that catches the eye and makes one want to pick up the book to learn more of which may lie between the covers. Such is the case with “Good Morning Diego Garcia”. I have to confess that I read this author’s first book, “The Lullaby Illusion” a long while ago, and it was one which I enjoyed hugely. Would I reap the same sort of satisfaction from the next book on her journey of awakening, soul searching and globetrotting? Well, yes, indeed I did! Without a doubt, this author can draw her reader into her life experiences, this time travelling in India on her way to crewing a boat from Sri Lanka to the Seychelles, with a cornucopia of experiences along the way. Never having been lucky enough to have undertaken such wide travels and the experiences to be enjoyed from them, I felt fortuitous to be able to enjoy them vicariously, as it were, and from the security of my armchair. Not for me, thank you, to participate in near-death experiences during a tropical storm on the Equator, even though it is clear that the author learnt so much from it about her inner self. Simple yet credible dialogue between husband and wife plays a large part in moving things along, allowing the author to move almost seamlessly from one inspiring episode of personal revelation to another on this rollercoaster of a ride. Another winner, without doubt.

The Lullaby Illusion: A Journey of Awakening (Journeys #1)

The Lullaby Illusion details the harrowing personal journey of a young American woman facing seemingly insurmountable situations while living in the Middle East and Europe.

After miscarriages and the loss of a child in childbirth on the island of Cyprus, Susan seeks solace by creating art, and recording her vivid dreams. Through difficult life changes -- Cyprus's bloody coup and war in 1974, a rescue from a sinking ship in the Indian Ocean, learning of her husband s secret life, and surviving his deadly assault in Belgium -- she discovers her ticking clock is not the child she has failed to produce, but rather the creative potential with which she can create a new life.

This is a powerful book, one that reminds us of the indomitability of the human spirit. Rich in characters, in tragedies, in cultural and political events, Susan opens her very personal diary and the result is a vastly entertaining book.
Recommended.

*****A Monumental Memoir
By Janet Hughes on May 24, 2014
The Lullaby Illusion is an exquisitely executed memoir, which leaves you spell-bound as you follow Susan's metamorphosis; as she loses herself in her husband, the enigmatic Charles, following their dream travelling the world.Through miscarriages, betrayals and escaping war torn Cyprus to her re-awakening in Germany as an accomplished artist, Susan eloquently tells her story. The characters leap off the page, you can actually hear the dialogue, feel her fear, sadness and joy - it is easy to forget that this is a memoir and not fiction. I would love to see The Lullaby Illusion made into a film, and I hope she writes more about her life, and soon.

"Time Flies by in Hong Kong" Behind The Scenes of Fred's Diary 1981 segment two #Travels In Asia #RPBP

"BEHIND THE SCENES"

Thank you for joining us as we go behind the scenes of Fred's Diary 1981, with the second edition of

"Behind The Scenes".

Robert Fear takes us on his journey, as he travels in Asia taking daily notes in a diary.

This authentic look into his dairy has been extended by going behind the scenes with Robert as he reveals himself to us each week with an original inside look.

---------------

After we posted last weeks segment of "Behind The Scenes", we received a message from one of our blog followers!

"I read last weeks segment of Behind The Scenes with Fred's Diary 1981 featuring

Pre-Travel Jitters. I felt as if I was transported back in time.

Although somethings seem like the everyday mundane things that we do, I felt like I was walking in his shoes! I was able to see what he was talking about, and feel how he must have felt before traveling in Asia. What a fascinating Time Capsule from the 80's" ~Joshua

Chungking Mansions
An inexpensive place to stay in Hong Hong

Time flies by
It is already nearly four weeks since I left England and time is flying by. Those terrible pre-travel jitters started subsiding as soon as I got on that plane and the feeling of being far from home is now a distant memory. I am really starting to enjoy this adventure and looking forward to what the next few months hold.

On the second day here I got a bed in a dormitory at the Travellers Hostel on the 16th floor of Chungking Mansions. I’ve been staying there ever since and am meeting a lot of fellow travellers as they pass through. It is great hearing everyone’s travel stories, as well as getting advice on places to visit and things to do. Travelling alone is all well and good but it’s always an uplifting experience mixing with like-minded people.

I’ve done a lot of exploring around different areas of Hong Kong and it is a fascinating place. The contrasts are tremendous between the crowded streets of the city itself and the remoteness of the surrounding countryside. Most of the travel has been by tram, ferry and bus although I have also been on a train, the subway and a funicular up to The Peak where there are breath-taking views.

My dream of getting a job at the bank came to nothing. I had hoped that having worked for their branch in Frankfurt that there might be a chance of working here for a few months. They only employ two expats though and it wasn’t possible. I must admit that I felt really down after the interview as I had built up the possibility so much in my own mind. Its’s probably all for the best though!

I have been doing some work, as a film extra for Chinese TV. Along with a few of my other fellow travellers we have played background parts in several editions of a series called Hong Kong Gentlemen. As well as that I have been a Russian soldier and an interrogator.

Some letters have arrived including two from Rita, my girlfriend from Germany. I knew she was very down when I left but the news does not sound good. One of her letters was really long and rambling. The other was a little more upbeat. She admitted there is something ‘wrong with her silly head’. It sounds like she has had some sort of breakdown. This news really upset me and I couldn’t help blaming myself for what is happening to her.

I have started making plans to move on to Thailand within the next week or so. The idea is that I will fly into Bangkok and then get a train or bus up to Chiang Mai in the north. Three friends I met here, Sharon, Aja and Graham, are already there and I am looking forward to meeting up with them.

Tiger Balm Gardens, Hong Kong
The Hong Kong gardens have lost half their sculptures and structures.

Fortunately, what remains are some of the most unique features. The Tiger Pagoda, Aw Boon Haw's tomb, and the mountain honeycombed with caves all have been preserved. This watercolor was painted in the late 1940s.

A Day in Hong Kong
I didn't get to sleep until 2 a.m. this morning. Was restless and couldn't relax. When I did drop off I slept well and woke up at 9 a.m.

After a wash I got my laundry together and took it downstairs, before having breakfast. Left the hostel and headed to Tiger Balm gardens by ferry and a No.11 bus. Was there by 10:45 a.m.

Had a good look around. The gardens are interesting although there was not much grass around. The area was constructed by the brothers who made a fortune out of selling Tiger Balm ointments.

It is quite run down but at its height must have been magnificent. The whole thing was built on a hillside and consists of numerous steps, concrete monuments and pagodas, with lots of different scenes made with models of plaster on metal skeleton bases.

After wandering around I headed up some rotting steps into the hills behind the gardens where I sat in quiet. A while later I headed back through the gardens and down the hill to Wanchai.

To kill some time I took various buses and trams around Hong Kong visiting the Western Market and Happy Valley. Also found out about trips to Macau and decided it was too expensive and too much hassle to try and do the trip in one day. Besides that the weather has turned ropey again.

About 3 p.m. I picked up my Thai visa which was all fine. For a change I caught the subway back to Kowloon. The whole system is modern and the trains are built in England but I'm afraid I hit it at one of the problem times. The train was delayed for quarter of an hour.

Got back to the hostel, after picking up my laundry, had a shower and watched TV before getting some dinner at 6:30 p.m. Watched TV most of the evening and even bought a bottle of beer later on, my first since Saturday. Went to bed at 11:30 p.m. but was again restless and couldn't get to sleep until 1 a.m.

Fascinating time capsule from the 80’s

The WatchersIt's Time, Live On The Dark Side

Azazel endures thousands of years in utter darkness and isolation in atonement for his sin.

Cryssi fears being alone with her demons, living a living hell. She runs to her twin for help, trying to save her soul, unaware that she’s running to her angel.

The ominous Dark Prince imminent plans for humanity provides an opportunity for Azazel to gain his freedom. Azazel works to save humanity and his true mate from evil and hell.

The Watchers, fallen angels faction race against time to save humanity.

Prologue

The beginning of time - the world is a beautiful paradise made by the God’s love. God sits on his heavenly throne on the second day, admiring his masterpiece. His crystal clear eyes glow and he smiles, flashing his brilliant teeth.

Suddenly, he turns around. His clear eyes become brighter, emitting a blue glow, and his face is flushed. He angrily glares at his Archangel Lucifer, the angel of worship.

“Lucifer, how dare you to say in your heart that you will rise above me and set your throne higher than mine? How dare you seek to be worshipped like me? I cast you and your legions from my realm and into the eternal fiery pit. You will be imprisoned for a thousand years.”

Lucifer was created with ultimate wisdom, beauty, and perfection by God. The fall of angels is caused by angels who have freely elected to choose evil and reject God. Their sin is unforgivable and irrevocable.

Beelzebub, along with Lucifer and Leviathan, is the first three angels to fall. Beelzebub and Leviathan were princes of the Seraphim, just below Lucifer.

Lucifer and his legions are released from their prison. They vow to cause chaos and to corrupt the humans.

Who Are The Angels & Where Did They Come From?

The Watchers, the sons of God, were a superior order of Angels. They were on the highest level of heaven. The fallen Angels have had an exclusive bond with the human race since ancient times.

The Watchers, fallen Angels are similar to humans in their appearance.

As the world has multiplied, the Angels have coveted the daughters of men and elected to take them as wives.

A multitude of Angels sinned by mating with women. The Angels were bound by the prime divine dictate to not interfere with the human evolution. These fallen angels led humans to sin through direct interaction and by providing forbidden knowledge.

The Angels decided to ignore God’s decree. They rebelled his ruling and instructed the human race.

Their actions initiated disastrous ramifications for both themselves and humanity.

They wish to ask for divine intervention during the reign of the Fallen Angels (Watchers).

Samyaza leads the angels to mate with women. Angels mating with humans is against God’s command and is a cursed action, resulting in the wrath of God coming upon Earth.

Leagues of Angels are chained, imprisoned in eternal punishment.

I found the story of The Watchers, the Fallen Angels, fascinating. The thought that their fall was due to the charms of women. The power that a woman has over a man is incredible and amazing. The charms of women brought the angels to their knees, giving up their heavenly thrones, and risked the wrath of God. Their sin (According to several different books, it’s understandable that it would be up to great debates, but it is not my intention to write or dissect different religions and beliefs.) to descend from the heavens to mate with women and to teach humanity different skills.

The series The Watchers, are about the Fallen Angels. I selected the ones that are supposedly the leaders of the mass of fallen angels.

I thought, why not write about their punishment, their atonement and release, and falling in love. They, of course, have to save the world from the Dark Prince.

The thought by many is that they’re demons and others that they’re fallen angels that wanted to live a normal life with a woman.

Azazel is the second Watcher, Fallen Angel that I selected to write about because he was the one that was close to Samyaza. He taught the secrets of war, to forge metal, mine, and to use different metals. He also thought the women the art of applying makeup.

The Watchers taught humanity technological skills, magical knowledge, and occult wisdom.
